The Tribhuvan Airport Customs Office has launched a self-declaration room for cargo for passengers coming from abroad. Passengers returning from abroad used to bring gold, jewelry, foreign currency, TVs, and mobile phones in excess of the standard, and when they exited without self-declaration, they were involved in customs evasion.
After the operation of the self-declaration room, passengers will be able to self-declare the goods they have and pay the customs duty of the excess goods easily. Passengers coming from abroad get the facility of self-declaration after passing through the immigration hall before reaching the customs check X-ray machine. For that, the customs office has arranged a self-declaration room with regular staff.
In the absence of such a room, passengers used to carry more goods than the standard, and after being prosecuted by the customs and police, they would be fined and imprisoned for double the value of such goods.
