Police in Parsa district Tuesday arrested two women who had allegedly trafficked two girls to India. They were arrested in Birgunj Metropolitan City-16.

The arrested have been identified as Laxmi Das (20) of Birtamod-9 in Jhapa district and Khusbu BK (19) of Itahari Sub-Metropolitan City-12 in Sunsari district.

They were allegedly trafficking two girls from Jhapa district to Chhaudadano, in Bihar, the eastern state in Inda. The Parsa District Police Office (DPO) rescued those trafficked girls in coordination with the Indian counterpart. It has been learnt that the trafficked girls were being sold in India.

The police investigation shows that the traffickers had enticed the victims to travel to Birgunj Bus Park by offering a job in an orchestra. However, they trafficked them to India from the bus park. The traffickers had further planned to send them to other parts of India from Chhaundadano.

Police filed the human trafficking case against them and proceeded with the investigation after getting an extension of their custody by seven days from Parsa District Court.

Meanwhile, police have launched a search operation to find three others involved in trafficking the victims to India.
