Chairperson of CPN (Maoist Centre) Pushpa Kamal Dahal

Chairperson of CPN (Maoist Centre) Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said the country requires structural reforms for economic development.

Addressing the central general convention of the Federation of Nepal Industry and Trade here Thursday, Chairperson Dahal praised that businesspeople had a tremendous role to make the country self-reliant.

"In the past, we were self-reliant on foods and used to export as well. But, we have been importing much now. Nepal, known for production and use of gundruk, is now importing it," he reminded of a harrowing reality, urging everyone for skills and entrepreneurship development.

He further stressed the need for changing the present electoral system and governance model. Chairperson Dahal vowed to wipe out anomalies in structural mechanisms.

Mentioning the slogan of 'I don’t indulge in corruption and don't let others as well and setting on a signboard on the one hand and the corruption rife everywhere on the other, he wondered who- the system or the person was culpable; it is worth mulling.
