Businesspersons representing the Bhaktapur Chamber of Commerce and Industries have held discussions with Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba focusing on development activities in the district.

Chamber Chairperson Shiva Prasad Manandhar led the delegation to the PM and requested him for special efforts for the infrastructure development in Bhaktapur. The delegation also submitted an 11-point memorandum to PM Deuba.

The government's commitment to the institutional development of democracy and complete adherence to the constitution was requested for propping up Bhaktapur's development, Manandhar said. He hailed that the local level elections were conducted peacefully because of the resolution of PM Deuba, which, Manandhar argued, had encouraged the businessperson in hope of economic prosperity and political stability.

PM Deuba was urged for permitting Bhaktapur Municipality to run the Khwopa University. The delegation argued if the Khwopa University was brought into operation, specialist doctors could be produced within the country.

Similarly, the PM was drawn attention for his initiatives to blacktop the Bhaktapur-Nagarkot roadway, construction of the national sanctuary in Suryabinayak Municipality, construction of an international conference centre in Bhaktapur, construction of a star hotel by building infrastructures for tourism development and development of current Bhaktapur Industrial Estate as handicraft village.

Other points the delegation put forth before the PM were the establishment of a chemical fertilizer factory within the district for commercial farming, running off an agro retail market centre for the commercialization of agriculture, and necessary amendments in-laws to build the competitive capacity of Nepali products etc.

PM Deuba accepted the request made by the delegation and assured to take necessary initiatives, according to Association Member Nawin Prajapati.
