Government's zero-tolerance policy against corruption

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' has said that the government has adopted a policy of zero tolerance against corruption. He has expressed his commitment to take strict action against any incidents of irregularity and those involved in it.

In a program organized here today on the occasion of the 32nd Foundation Day of the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority, Prime Minister Dahal said, "The present government is committed to taking legal action against any corrupt person. For this, the commission will be empowered."

Prime Minister Dahal said that the subject of corruption control and ensuring morality is included in the current government's policy priorities and minimum programs. "The government will be ruthless to the extent to help the commission in fulfilling its responsibilities and against corruption," he said.

Prime Minister Dahal expressed his belief that the commission will conduct an independent, impartial, and fearless investigation and bring the culprits to justice to control corruption and maintain the country's development, citizens' interests, and good governance. He also expressed solidarity in the global effort against corruption as a party to the United Nations Convention against Corruption. He informed that for the full implementation of the issues mentioned in the Convention, the Prevention of Corruption Act and the Abuse of Authority Investigation Commission Act will be amended simultaneously.

"We will try to pass the new Act by the Parliament within this year by making simultaneous amendments to the Prevention of Corruption Act and the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority Act", said the Prime Minister. He also called on all three levels of government, civil society, the media world, and ordinary citizens to transform the state's policy of corruption control and maintaining good governance into practice.
