On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Nepal and the United States, climbers from the two nations will hold a joint mountaineering expedition.

In 1947, the United States recognized Nepal as a sovereign nation and diplomatic relations were formally established between the two countries in 1948.

To celebrate this occasion, a team of Nepalese and American mountaineers are set to climb Mount Denali in Alaska, USA. The expedition has been named as Nepal Friendship Team. The expedition will start on June 2, 2022. Nepal's renowned climber Karma Tenzing and renowned American climber Mark Parela are leading the expedition. The team will also include several world record holders as well as national record holders.

Similarly, Karma Tenzing is also an experienced climber and currently holds two national records. He has also climbed Mt. Everest and introduced himself as a polar explorer. He is on track to complete his Explorer Grand Slam by 2023.

The team also includes the legendary climber Ming Sherpa. He is the first South Asian citizen to climb all 14 of the world's highest peaks, all of which he managed on each of his first attempts.

Chang Dawa Sherpa was the youngest person to climb 14 of the world's highest mountains until 2019. Chang Dawa and his brother Mingma Sherpa together set a world record as the first pair of brothers to reach the 14 highest peaks in the world.

Mingma Gabu Sherpa is currently the youngest person to climb all 14 of the highest peaks in the world. He also set the record for the fastest ascent of Mt. Everest and Mount K2 - 61 days. Similarly, Karma Galje Sherpa is a professional mountaineering guide. He has climbed Mt. Everest four times. In 2012 alone, he climbed K2 and Manaslu 7 times each and Cho-Oyu 2 times.
