Pokhara Metropolitan City brings new budget of Rs 8.77 billion

The Pokhara Metropolitan City has unveiled a budget of Rs 8.77 billion for the upcoming fiscal year 2022/023.

Deputy Mayor of Pokhara Manju Devi Gurung on Friday presented the budget giving priority to tourism promotion, sustainable infrastructure development, environment protection, garbage management, institutional development, good governance and self-employment, entrepreneurship, and commercial agricultural system.

The Pokhara Metropolitan City has increased its budget by Rs 2.36 million for the upcoming fiscal year.

As announced, a total of Rs 2.58 billion would be received from the federal government grant, Rs 112.8 million from the provincial government grant, and Rs 3.01 billion from internal sources to fulfill the objectives and priorities of the budget.

Similarly, Rs 373.7 million would be managed from the federal revenue sharing, Rs 14.2 million from the provincial revenue sharing and Rs 2.40 billion would be managed from savings of the current fiscal year.

Deputy Mayor Gurung shared that Rs 4.53 billion has been allocated towards infrastructure development, Rs 1.25 billion towards the office of the municipal executive, Rs 2.06 billion towards social development, Rs 1.49 billion towards education, and Rs 505 million towards health.

The metropolitan city has allocated Rs 650 million for the implementation of pride projects in Pokhara. Similarly, Rs 70 million has been allocated to set up charging stations at petrol pumps and other places with the partnership of the private sector to encourage the use of electric vehicles.

She mentioned that the metropolitan city has also allocated a budget for the implementation of one ward-one smart toilet policy in all wards.
