Taps installed in houses of Fedikhola-2

800 people from 166 households have directly benefited from the operation of two drinking water projects in Fedikhola Gaonpalika-2 of Syangja, which has been facing a drinking water problem for a long time. According to Ward Chairman Himalaya Jung Baniya, 425 people from 86 households have benefited from the Chaukhola Drinking Water Project constructed at a cost of Rs. 11.5 million which was received from the Gandaki State Government. Similarly, 375 people of 80 households have benefited from the Thuladhara Lifting Drinking Water Project constructed at a cost of Rs. 95,48,513 received from the Federal Government.

Bam Bahadur Gurung, Chairman of the Chaukhola Project Consumer Committee, said that water was brought from the Chaukhola source and distributed with the help of the state government as the drinking water project operated earlier was unmanaged and water was scarce as the settlement was growing. According to him, the drinking water project has been constructed and is operational and taps have been connected to every house of 86 households including Nangedanda, Kalleri, and Besare Village of Fedikhola Municipality-2. Chairman Gurung informed that Rs. 50 will be collected monthly for the maintenance of the scheme. 

Dipendra Subedi, Chairman of the Thuladhara Project Consumer Committee, said that drinking water has reached 80 houses in Lower Kundule of Ward No. 2 from the lifting. "We were compelled to carry water on our backs from the Thuladhara spring which is about 100 meters below the village," he said. "With the installation of water taps in every house, the daily life of the people here has changed." Chairman Subedi said that the time spent fetching water could be used for other income-generating activities.
