The taskforce formed to resolve internal disputes within the CPN UML is set to hold discussion with party chair KP Sharma Oli and senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal on the draft proposal created for the consensus. A 10-member taskforce was formed on May 16 following an agreement between the two leaders.

A meeting of the taskforce held today at Singha Durbar agreed to materialise the consensus draft proposal in its meeting on Thursday after presenting it at the top leadership for a discussion, said party leader Subas Nembang.

He expressed the hope that a consensus would be reached soon as discussions in this regard, according to him, have headed towards a positive direction.

The atmosphere for a consensus was created after party chair Oli agreed to run the party based on its organisational situation before 17 May 2018 after dissolving the party general convention organising committee.

The taskforce has become active in the context that the deadline for the withdrawal of the proposal put forward by the 13th meeting of the CPN UML central committee to make Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba Prime Minister and the withdrawal of the signature of the party’s 23 outgoing lawmakers to file a writ petition in the Supreme Court was expired at 5:00 pm today.

The taskforce members include party leaders, Nembang, Bishnu Prasad Poudel, Pradeep Kumar Gyawali, Shankar Pokharel and Bishnu Prasad Rimal from the side of Prime Minister and party chair Oli and Bhim Bahadur Rawal, Ghanashyam Bhusal, Surendra Prasad Pandey, Gokarna Raj Bista and Raghuji Pant from party leader Nepal camp.
