Though the government has allowed the operation of middle-distance and long-distance public transportation, the Bus Park in Gongabu still wears a deserted look. Not many people are leaving Kathmandu valley at the moment, said a security guard employed at the bus park. It is mostly people coming to the valley now, he added.

Meanwhile, Saundarya Neupane and Saufa Lama Tamang’s newly opened company, S & S Disinfection, has been sanitizing vehicles at the Gongabu Bus Park. They have collaborated with the management of the bus park to sanitize and keep the vehicles safer.

During the first lockdown, Clean Team Pvt Ltd was involved in the abovementioned task but after the end of the lockdown, its contract with the bus park expired. Neupane, who was formerly with Clean Team as its team manager, says, “I knew there would be a second lockdown so I decided to open my own company with my friend.”

“We sanitize our hands all the time so why not disinfect the vehicles. Moreover, the vehicles carry various passengers to different locations so the transport system needs to be clean and hygienic,” shares Neupane.

He adds they charge only Rs 100 to sanitize a vehicle which is not a big price to pay given the danger that is associated with the coronavirus infection.

Tamang further explains their company tries to give the best service that is possible. “We have also been supplying COVID gear but most importantly our focus is on cleaning and sanitizing vehicles.”
