Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has shown interest in managing the garbage in Thamel, the main tourist area of the capital.
Balendra Shah, Mayor of the Metropolitan City, visited the Thamel area yesterday and discussed with the stakeholders to solve the problems in that area. He visited Thamel in the morning as part of the Thamel Tourism Development Council and interacted with tourism businessmen and house owners on the road of the Chhaya Center complex in Thamel.
On this occasion, the council submitted a 10-point memorandum to Mayor Shah with measures to solve the problems, including garbage management, wire and hoarding boards, CCTV camera management, sewage, and road and streetlight management, which are the major problems of Thamel. Chairman of the council Bhaviswar Sharma handed over a memorandum with demands and suggestions to improve Thamel to Mayor Shah. While reading the memorandum, Mayor Shah expressed his belief that the problems of the Thamel area will be solved by conducting further studies in coordination with the KMC Ward Office.
Chairman of the Council Sharma said that the memorandum was submitted after studying the overall problems of the Thamel area. The metropolis has been requested to address the demands of street children, street begging and cart management, public toilet management, Thamel street festival, land management for the construction of council building, training, etc. in the memorandum. t.
